Stomping In The Woods Show
Stomping In The Woods is an interactive performance for and with children aged 0 - 7, and bigger people! Ruti Lachs, who performs the show, has written songs for the children in the audience to join in with. So you will be waving your trunk like an elephant (Elemouse), stomping in imaginary woods, swimming in imaginary lakes, playing triangles and tambourines and shakers (Happy Happy Wednesday), jumping and twirling and dancing. And then collapsing to the floor for some peaceful songs (Centipede), before jumping up again (Jump) and turning into a magical creature that creates breakfast (Breakfast Fairies). Children will get to sing, dance, and play, and stomp about a lot! Ruti has a silly hat and fairy wings, and some teddy friends, and she shows the children some very interesting musical instruments, including one that sounds like an elephant! and one that sounds like a mouse! It's very exciting, and all action. This is a brilliant show that the children will love. And the bigger people can also enjoy joining in the stomping, happy fun!
In 2015, the 150th anniversary of Alice in Wonderland, the show was retitled 'Stomping Down The Rabbit Hole' or 'Stomping in Wonderland', and had new songs and props based on the fantastic and enduring Alice in Wonderland story. The show is often adapted according to the occasion. So at the jazz festival, the songs are reharmonised with jazz chords; at the percussion festival, rhythms are integral to the show.
Testimonials
'Ruti's show is imaginative, fun, very musical and engages uniquely with the audience. As a programmer, it's difficult to source quality, interesting, fun and engaging shows for younger audiences and Stomping In The Woods fits the bill perfectly.' Con Horgan, Artistic Director, National Circus Festival of Ireland
“Thank you for taking part in Listowel Writers’ Week Children’s Festival 2014. You swept the kids off their feet for the Teddy’s Bear Picnic. Well done and thank you. You made it very enjoyable.” Nuala Stewart, Children’s Co-ordinator, Listowel Writers Week
"Many many thanks for a great day. We all had a very enjoyable time, as did everyone. I'd definitely hope we could do the same again next year." Robert Hernan, Limerick Jazz Festival
