Sideways on Planet Piano is the very funny musical story of an ordinary Jewish single woman who parties, brings up her son, has various relationships, and struggles with huge problems – like what to do next with her life!
This 50 minute show, written and performed by Ruti Lachs, is by turns comedic, moving, and challenging. The melodic elements draw on klezmer, folk, jazz, and blues styles. The lyrics tell of her life with hoovers, sofas, her very Jewish grandma, men, and stuff.
Since its first performance in Mountshannon Arts Festival in May 2017, Sideways on Planet Piano has had 18 public performances in small venues, including Kenmare, Killarney, Clonakilty, Kilcrohane, Annascaul, and Cork city.
